Loving wife, momma, grandma, great grandma, and caregiver
Patty Zahler, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home on September 25 surrounded by her family. She had a short battle with cancer before she surrendered her heart to God.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John; her children Tim, Deb (Paul) Long, Jodi (Scott) Stammer; four spoiled grandchildren, AJ Teague, Katie Teague, Ashley Ogelsby, and Myranda (Patrick) Hanson; three great grandchildren, Josephine, Penelope, and Maverick; two sisters and two brothers. Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lucille Lehn.
Patty grew up in St. Michael and graduated from St. Michael Catholic School. Shortly after, she met the love of her life and married in 1966. They raised their family in Rogers until 2006 then moved to Elk River.
Her life was dedicated to her husband and children. Patty worked hard taking care of her family, growing a huge vegetable garden for many years, cooking, canning, and baking. She also had a green thumb — neighbors called her the “flower lady” because of the many perennials, petunias, and geraniums she grew every summer. There was always an abundance of indoor plants as well.
Bowling was a hobby she enjoyed for many years — she had a lot of fun with her girlfriends when they traveled around the country for tournaments. Other interests over the years included cake decorating, calligraphy, crocheting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to classic country and bluegrass music.
Mass of Christian burial at 12:30PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the Church of St Andrew, 566-4th Street, Elk River, with visitation starting at 11:30AM. Private interment at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation also on Wednesday, October 5 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, with parish prayer at 6:00 PM at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main Street, Elk River.
