In solemn remembrance of Leonard Sebastian Binfet
Leonard, 86, of Elk River, Minnesota, peacefully passed away on 2/23/2021. Born March 26, 1934 and raised in Onaka, South Dakota by his beloved parents Joseph Binfet and Margaret Heier Binfet. A veteran of the US Air Force, he served in the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1957. He attended trade school for two years where he met his wife Lucille and later began his 31-year career at Control Data.
Leonard and Lucille Odenbrett Binfet were married on 8/18/1962 and their love has endured. He is survived by his two sons Jeffery Binfet (Therese) and Gregory Binfet (Shelly) and their children Ella and Brock. Leonard is also survived by his sisters Rose, Agnes Tillie, and Anne, brother Roy, and many nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his eight brothers and sisters.
Leonard was a humble man who embodied the passage in Matthew 23:12; “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted”. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed bringing a smile to people’s face. Many will remember him saying “yes dear” to Lucille or “I’m good, but I lie a lot” when asked how he is doing. But his true love in life was his family and he will always be remembered for his dedication as a loving father and a devoted husband.
A celebration of his life will be held with Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:30AM at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 566-4th Street NW, Elk River. Visitation from 9:00AM - 10:00AM on Tuesday at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main Street NW, Elk River.
A private interment will be held at the National Cemetery at a later date.
All donation will go to St. Andrews Catholic Church, Elk River, MN, or the Alzheimer Association in his honor.
