Sadly, Kay passed away on Sunday , July 26th 2020 at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis near her home and family in the Twin Cities Area. She was 84 years of age.
Kay was born to Albin and Cecilia Marquart (Powers) on Friday, November 8th 1935 in Fargo ND. A mischievous child at times, she graduated from Scared Heart Academy and went on to study at NDSU whereupon she earned a degree in Pharmacy. Relocating to the Twin Cities she worked as a pharmacist for many years, met many new friends, closed out many a party, settled down and married Dale A. Gerasch on October 13th, 1967 at the Church of Holy Name in Minneapolis.
Living in SE Minneapolis, they brought two wonderful children, into the world. She met many more new friends after moving to Brooklyn Center and finally in Elk River where she resided most recently.
Kay enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day. She also enjoyed time spent up North at the family cabin, swimming in a bathing cap that passed as modern art, a night of cards, book club, a good libation, reading, and cherished many, many, a fun time spent with her family and friends whom she always met with a warm smile.
She was always strong in her faith, active with the church, and constantly praying for the wellbeing of others.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dale; her siblings; Eugene, Dorothy, Ceil Ann, and Mary.
She is survived by: daughter Christa (Bill) Jones, Coon Rapids, MN; son Richard (Rene’), Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren; Calvin, Nolan, and Mason.
Funeral mass will be held October 17th at 12 PM in St. Andrew’s Church in Elk River, MN.
A memorial service will take place August 9th at 3 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Church on Big Elbow Lake for those who knew her from her many summers spent at the cabin.
Memorials may be given to St. Andrews or St. Frances Cabrini Church (C/O Parish office; Waubun, MN).
Kay will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery beside her husband Dale at a later date TBD.
