Nila Jean Stenglein

Nila Jean Stenglein (Bandzak), age 65, of Zimmerman, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.  Nila was born on September 30, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Larry and Issie (Carlson) Bandzak.  She was the second of four children. 

Nila enjoyed the time she spent with her family, and cherished being a grandmother (“Nama”)!  She had a knack for being crafty, which is evident throughout her warm, welcoming home.  Her love of the outdoors brought her on numerous adventures to the North Shore and camping with family.

Nila is preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Alice Bandzak; and Helmer and Myrtle Carlson; parents Larry and Issie Bandzak; father-in-law Florian Stenglein; and sister-in-law Christy Stenglein.  Nila is survived by Steve, her husband of 37 years; daughters Amy Stenglein, Jenny (Billy) Kirk; three beautiful granddaughters, Kaylee, Alyssa, and Caitlynn Kirk; sisters Becky (Jerry) Oestreich, and Julie (Ron) Cavallin; brother David (Jackie) Bandzak; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  And of course “Boomer” her devoted German Shepard.

Please join us in Nila’s Celebration of Life on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main Street, in Elk River.  Service at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
