12/14/1933- 1/19/2024
Born in Phelps Wisconsin to James and Anna Strong. She was their 14th child and the only to be born in a hospital. Raised on a farm, her mother passed when she was 11 years old. She came to St. Paul, Minnesota to live with her aunt and uncle. Working as a waitress at a coffee shop, she met George T. Peterson. They were married and his work brought them all over the country. They had 7 children: Steven, Barbie, George, Jeffrey, Lisa, Douglas, and Donald. They settled back in Minnesota. She worked many different places. Her last job was at Action Plastics as a federal inspector. She retired and lived in Zimmerman, Minnesota. She loved to knit, and she made many wonderful hats, mittens, and blankets. She donated many to Sister Mary's Place in Minneapolis. She spent a lot of time looking after her grandchildren. They all loved spending time with their Gramma. She had 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
When mom needed a bit more help she moved to Fremont Village where she couldn’t have been happier or better cared for. She would often say "if you can't live at your home, Fremont Village is the next best thing". At 90 years old she was happy and content with the life she lived.
Friday, January 19, 2024, she passed away peacefully with her family gathered around her, singing her favorite song, “Amazing Grace”.
She will be sadly missed for her laughter, quick wit, humor, hugs, and her ability to listen, and give advice that can only come from someone that has truly lived 90 years.
Preceded in death by her mom, Anna Margaret, and father, James Jay Strong; all of her siblings: 8 brothers; 5 sisters; sons, Steven Lee Peterson
George Jay Peterson, Jeffrey Emil Peterson, Douglas Edward Peterson; and son in-law, Steve Jensen.
